Analysis of the Factors that Influence the Level of Fertility in Female Workers in the City of Lhokseumawe

Introduction

The city of Lhokseumawe, located in the province of Aceh, Indonesia, has undergone significant changes in recent years, particularly in terms of economic development and urbanization. As a result, the demographic profile of the city has also undergone changes, with an increasing number of women entering the workforce. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the level of fertility in female workers in the city of Lhokseumawe, with a focus on income, education level, working hours, age at first marriage, and the use of contraception.

Methodology

This study uses multiple linear regression analysis models to analyze the data collected from the Lhokseumawe Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and BPS of Aceh Province, as well as through questionnaires to 100 married female workers in Lhokseumawe City. The data was analyzed using SPSS 21 software to identify the factors that influence the level of fertility in female workers.

Results

The results of this study indicate that there are several factors that affect the level of fertility of female workers in the city of Lhokseumawe. First, income factors, working hours, age at first marriage, and the use of contraception have a negative and significant influence on the level of fertility. This means that the higher the income and the longer the working hours, and the greater the use of contraception, the level of fertility tends to decrease. This may be caused by the fact that female workers with high income are more likely to postpone pregnancy to pursue careers or improve the quality of life. Likewise, with the use of contraception that is increasingly common among career women, allows them to plan pregnancy better.

On the other hand, the level of education level shows positive and significant effects on the level of fertility. It can be interpreted that female workers who have a higher level of education tend to have a better understanding of reproductive health and family planning. Highly educated women often prefer to have children after feeling financially and emotionally mature.

Discussion

The importance of these findings not only lies in understanding the factors that affect fertility, but also provide insight for policy makers in formulating programs that can support the welfare of female workers. By understanding this dynamics, policy makers can develop initiatives that support education and improve skills, as well as provide support for the use of safe and effective contraception.

Furthermore, the results of this analysis also highlight the impact of modern society on the mindset and life choices of female workers in the city of Lhokseumawe. The increasing number of women entering the workforce and the growing use of contraception have led to a shift in the reproductive choices of female workers. Therefore, it is essential to continue to conduct further research and observation so that the policies applied can be more relevant and effective in improving the quality of life of female workers and adjusting to the times.

In conclusion, this analysis provides an overview of the level of fertility in female workers in the city of Lhokseumawe and highlights the factors that influence it. The results of this study indicate that income, education level, working hours, age at first marriage, and the use of contraception are significant factors that affect the level of fertility in female workers.
