The use of biopori infiltration system applications to drainage flow to overcome floods in Banda Sakti District, North Aceh Regency

Flooding is a complex issue that requires serious attention and a comprehensive solution. In Banda Sakti Subdistrict, North Aceh Regency, the factors that cause floods, such as the increase in discharge due to changes in land use, narrowing and siltation of drainage channels due to settlement construction, sediment deposits, and waste problems, also worsen the drainage conditions in the region. One of the proposed solutions to overcome floods is the application of a water conservation system, which includes the use of biopori and infiltration infiltration holes. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of biopori infiltration system applications in reducing flood discharge in Banda Sakti District.

Flooding is a major problem in Banda Sakti Subdistrict, North Aceh Regency, causing significant damage to properties and affecting the livelihoods of the community. The factors that contribute to flooding in the region include:

Changes in land use: The increase in discharge due to changes in land use, such as deforestation and urbanization, has led to a significant increase in flood discharge.
Narrowing and siltation of drainage channels: The narrowing and siltation of drainage channels due to settlement construction have reduced the capacity of the drainage system, leading to flooding.
Sediment deposits: Sediment deposits in the drainage channels have further reduced the capacity of the drainage system, exacerbating the problem of flooding.
Waste problems: The presence of waste in the drainage channels has also contributed to the problem of flooding.

This study used a case study approach, with Banda Sakti District as the study location. The primary data collected includes the infiltration rate of water into the soil before and after the application of biopori infiltration holes and the number of infiltration holes needed to reduce flood discharge. The analysis method used is the Harton method. In addition, the maximum daily rainfall intensity is analyzed using several distribution methods, namely normal distribution, normal log, log person-III, and gumbel. This study also calculates the capacity of drainage and infiltration wells needed.

The results of this study showed that the soil permeability coefficient in the region was 9,610 x 10^-4 cm/sec, with a constant infiltration rate (FC) of 18 cm/hour. Meanwhile, the average infiltration rate for biopori infiltration holes reaches 95.20 cm/hour. From the data analysis, the ideal number of ideal biopori infiltration holes for a house with a roof area of 90 m² and page 60 m² is seven holes. For circular infiltration wells, a well with a diameter of 0.5 meters and a depth of 1.5 meters is needed for each house.

The application of biopori and infiltration infiltration systems has great potential to overcome the problem of drainage and flooding in Banda Sakti District. The success of the implementation of this system depends on the awareness and participation of the community in maintaining environmental cleanliness and the commitment of the local government in conducting supervision and maintenance of the built infrastructure. With these steps, it is hoped that Banda Sakti District can reduce the impact of flooding and improve the quality of life of the community.

Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are made:
