Introduction

Edentulous patients complete with Ridge Flabby are cases that are often found in the clinic. However, making artificial teeth in patients with Ridge Flabby is still a challenge for dentists. Ridge Flabby is a fibrous tissue with soft consistency that is easily deformation if given a large pressure. This causes dentures to become unstable, not right, and cause discomfort for patients. The goal of this study is to analyze the distribution of complete voltage and shift of artificial dentures in patients with Ridge Flabby by using various printing techniques and the direction of chewing loads, through the finite element analysis (FEA) simulation.

The Importance of Print Techniques in Ridge Flabby

Print tray design and printing techniques in the case of Ridge Flabby are important factors that need to be considered because it has a significant impact on making complete dentures that are stable. The choice of printing technique can affect the distribution of voltage and shift in denture, which can lead to discomfort and instability for patients. In this study, we will analyze the effect of three different printing techniques, namely: window techniques, one step double spacer, and dual tray, on the distribution of complete voltage and shift of artificial dentures in patients with Ridge Flabby.

Research Methods and Results

This study was conducted by making three complete upper jaw dentures in Edentulous patients complete with Ridge Flabby, using three different printing techniques. The load given to the denture simulates the maximum bite load of the individual. The load simulation is 100 N axially and 119 N on its sloping applied in the first premolar, the second premolar, and the first jaw molar. The results show that artificial dentures with window printing techniques have the lowest von mises voltage value and the smallest shift, followed by dual tray techniques and one step double spacer.

Interpretation of Results and Recommendations

These results indicate that complete dentures made with window printing techniques have the lowest voltage and shift distribution in the Flabby area compared to other print techniques. Window printing techniques become the most ideal technique for making dentures in patients with ridge flabby. This is because the design of the print tray in the open flabby area allows print material to not press the flabby area so that deformation can be minimized. In addition, the use of Light Body Polyvinyl Siloxane printing material with consistency that does not cause mucosal deformation also contributes to optimal results.

Comparison of Printing Techniques

The results of this study show that window printing techniques have the lowest voltage and shift distribution compared to other print techniques. However, the one step double spacer and dual tray printing techniques can also be used in the case of Ridge Flabby. One step double spacer technique can be used for cases with a small degree of flabby, while the dual tray technique can be used for cases with several areas of flabby in one jaw.

Conclusion

This study shows that window printing techniques are the most ideal technique for making complete dentures in patients with flabby ridge, because they are able to minimize voltage and shift distribution in the flabby area. Thus, dentures become more stable, fit, and comfortable for patients.
