The sample was taken using a purposive random sampling technique with a tight inclusion and exclusion criteria, so 20 subjects were chosen. Saliva samples were taken before and after doing reflexology exercises. Cortisol and testosterone hormone levels in saliva were then measured using the ELISA method.

Results

The results showed that there were significant differences in the levels of the hormone cortisol (p = 0.000) and testosterone (p = 0.000) after doing reflexology exercises. This data shows that reflexology exercises not only reduce cortisol levels that function as stress biomarkers, but also increase testosterone levels, hormones that play a role in increasing energy and motivation. This effect is more significant when reflexology exercises are carried out with musical accompaniment, which can increase relaxation and comfort.
